Nice Review in Jazznytt

Hi! Here´s a review of Slow Walking Water from Norwegian jazz magazine Jazznytt. I realize that this review could be a bit hard to understand for all you non-scandinavians out there. That´s why you should start learning a Scandinavian language straight away. It´s a highway to eternal happiness!!! Here it is:

My New Website

Hi! I´ve made myself a brand new website. It´s called www.havardstubo.com, and features music, videos and info from my musical life outside J&FF. The site itself is really nothing special, but you might find some music there that you´ll like. Check it out! I also made a video from my own Håvard Stubø Quartet´s Japan… Read more »

Fall, Thy Name Is Melancholy

Today, I started going through my photos from this summer. The summers in Lapland are just so desperately short, and it breaks my heart that the next season up there is well over half a year away. Amidst all the pictures from this summer´s more successful fishing trips, I found some pictures that puzzled me… Read more »

Tough Love, Arctic Char Style

Hi! I´m in beautiful Savalen, Norway, investigating the secret sex life of the arctic char together with my friends Lars Nilssen (www.larsoglars.no, VGTV) and Morten Kraabøl (fish scientist from NINA). Nilssen got some incredible shots today! For those of you who aren´t familiar with Lars Nilssen´s work, he is the man in Norwegian fishing film,… Read more »

Poland in pictures 1: Street fight

After visiting France, it’s beautiful people, sophisticated wines, the famous cuisine and all, we all of a sudden found ourselves in the tiny village called Pobiedna in Western Poland. Red wine turned into fantastic beer, and the delicate salads and cheeses were replaced by traditional Polish soups and sausages. People were crazy and very friendly!… Read more »

Vive la France!

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! The food, the wine, the people… Tresbienne! Extraordinaire! Magnifique! Our hosts, Christian Rollet (great jazz drummer) and Joëlle Le Jean (great chef and beautiful lady) showed us some serious French hospitality. Thank you guys! Some photos pour vous:

Trout Latency

On a blistering hot day last week, I travelled to one of my favourite trout rivers up north. The fishing was very slow indeed, but eventually I managed to find two big trout. The first one ignored my attempts completely in the ultra-bright conditions, making me feel clumsy. The second one was rising steadily in… Read more »

Lazy Summer Days

Despite some very crappy weather, our fishing expedition was a success. We had a great time, hiking till our feet bled and catching several really nice fish (and one monster, too). More on this shortly. Right now, the J&FF members are spread out all over Scandinavia: Tapani is in his native Finland on summer holiday,… Read more »

Midnight Halibut

Ahhh, those magical summer nights above the arctic circle… This time, my friends Vegard, Terje and I went for the halibut on the Ofotfjorden, and came back on shore just in time for a couple of beers. Life up north is good this time of year! Music: “Tapdance” (Tapani Toivanen) Performed by Jazz & Fly… Read more »

Cows & Flies

Another beautiful spring day above the arctic circle. This time, the weather was on my side, and I had a terrific day, catching several beautiful trout on the dry fly while communicating with the local cattle. Cows are much more intelligent than you might think! Czech it: Catch ya later – Håvard Music: “Chanson de… Read more »
